Mitie Aviation Security Officer

Mitie are looking for looking for flexible, professional, and customer-focused Aviation Security Officers at Birmingham Airport. This role is not a sitting role it is a lot of standing and moving around and it will also involve outside work in all weathers.

Hours: 2 days, 2 nights 4 off (rolling roster) 12hr shifts 7am to 7pm/7pm to 7am.

Wage: £13.08 an hour.

As part of the Mitie aviation security team, you will help provide secure and efficient Security operations in line with DfT and CAA regulations. You will be the face of the company, representing their values through professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent customer service.

Main Duties

  • To control access into restricted areas of the Airport including: Checking security ID, physical searches: Body, bags and vehicles to a minimum of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards of all persons and articles carried, requiring access through the Security Checkpoints.

  • To carry out Xray duties of all items entering the restricted area.

  • To respond to emergency incidents following the agreed procedures.

  • To carry out escort duties, including special events when required.

  • To advise passengers, staff and crew on the correct presentation of persons and items carried, to ensure individuals are fully prepared for Security screening.

  • To undertake foot patrols of operational areas and designated routes.

  • To be compliant with Aviation Security local operating procedures, working practices and protocols.

  • To undertake Mandatory Training as stipulated by the company, in compliance with CAA standards.

  • To utilise equipment only as trained in how to do so.

  • To achieve an acceptable level of competence which is continuously measured through relevant performance evaluation means.

You must be available full time including the 3-4 weeks of the Ground Security Operative training. You must also be able to work 12 hr shifts, standing and moving around and at times outside in all weathers.
